Worn at: Assassins Creed Revelations Launch Event 2011

The reason for this costume: Although I never played or owned an Assassins Creed game, Altair’s outfit is pretty known by most people. After some mailing through a friend to Ubisoft I decided to just give it a go and see if I could make a female version out of Altair’s outfit. I made 7 designs and, although all of them had something, design 01 was just perfect from the very beginning.  I had in mind that this might be a good outfit for a boothbabe or something. Sexy for the guys with it’s huge split that shows some leg. Yet interesting enough for women to come closer as well.

How I made it: Somewhere in my room, gaining dust and stuff, I had this own made pattern of a blouse that I never made. I decided to see if I could alter it to a dress and made a try-out model first. After some altering and stuff the dress fitted like a glove.  I made this dress with a fabric mix of polyester and viscose. Therefor it’s very leightweighted and has this elegant movement while walking around. It is also completely lined with a light stretchy lining.

The hood took me some practise and alot of try-out models for it’s bird shape. It also had to cover my eyes yet show enough of my face. The hood is completely double lined. I can take out the red lining and wash this costume without being affraid it’ll turn pink haha.

The vambraces and the belt are made out of fake leather kind of material used for furniture. I made the belt from the same pattern I have used in many of my costumes. The vambrace pattern where own made. The metal design on the vambrace is made out of foam with spraypainting.

For the red lining in the hood and the red sash I used a nice bridal satin.

Thoughts on this costume: This outfit was a succes for sure. I got an invatation for Ubisoft’s Assassins Creed Launch Event and before we went there I had an awesome photoshoot with my friend Melissa who knew a the game and a great spot to shoot where I could give it a try with some jumping and climbing in high heels hahaha.

I don’t have a download section anymore but I do have the links of my workshops. All my workshops are written in Dutch but they have enough pictures and links in it to learn from it in any language.

Worn at: Animecon 2010

The reason for this costume: Animecon asked me to cosplay as their mascot ‘Marieke’. But not just to cosplay her but make a sexy version out of it for the EMV compo. From the beginning of going to Animecon I’ve always said that I would like to cosplay Marieke once. So getting this opportunity made me really happy ^o^

How I made it:Used stretchy kind of vinyl fabric and lace that I found on the market. For the upper skirt I used a circle pattern and just cutted out some space for the lace. The lace skirt is also made with the circle skirt pattern but in different lengthes.

The top was a blouse pattern I found in a magazine and I altered it the way I wanted it. I live in a city where we get a lot of tourists. So finding real wooden shoes was very easy for me. The cap was a try-out that worked out pretty well. Since I’m wearing a wig I needed a bigger hat to cover everything up.

Thoughts on this costume: WOOOOOPPP!!!! It was so much fun being Marieke. I even helped out with the openings ceremony on Friday. I would like to remake this one and give it some better details.

The history facts:

I’ve been a part of the cosplay scene since 2005.
It all started when I found out about people dressed up as their favorite anime or manga character. I’ve always told others that I would like to wear costumes like the ones worn by the characters in the Dead Or Alive games. So I decided to study about fashion and sewing.
At fashion school I was being taught how to sew and found out that there was a convention in The Netherlands called ‘Animecon’.
I asked a friend of mine if she would like to join me at the next Animecon and give it a go with cosplay.
Then finally an update on the Animecon website was posted, announcing Animecon 2005. So we booked our tickets, reserved a hotel room and went to the Animecon that year cosplaying for the first time as Tokyo Mew Mew and Rikku from FFX-2.
At that convention I found out that this was truly what I wanted to do and learn more about.

From that moment on I decided to cosplay on every convention I could go to.

So, did I choose my fashion training only for cosplay?

Answer is both, yes and no.
At that time I didn’t know what I was going to do with my life. Nothing really came to my mind and I didn’t really like administrative work or something related.
So first I attended a fashion school, where they taught me much about sewing, patterns and fabrics.

I had a great time at school and with and a lot of knowledge about sewing, I graduated.
Since that school was not a very high level education (MBO level 2), I decided to aim for a higher level and applied at the ‘Mondriaan College’ in The Hague.
It was very different from my previous school and we (as a class) didn’t go off with a good start.
In 2010 I graduated with a (MBO) level 4, a good looking tailor-made suit and a kick-ass cosplay fashion show with the best of my costumes from the past 6 years.

The personal facts:
I live in The Netherlands in Delft and currently work at a fabric store for a living.

Next to my part-time job I also am a dressmaker for an entertainment group called SPD and love to make clothes and fashion.

In my limited free-time I love to play games on my Xbox 360, go shopping, and having meets ups with my girls from Shebooya and exercise in the gym.

The reason for this costume: I have seen many Belldandy costumes and I as well wanted to try this one out.
Feeling and acting like a goddess and having such a beautiful costume where my main reasons for making this costume.

How I made it: The dress is made from a simple synthetic material that had a nice shimmering layer that could be seen in the sunrays.
The blue coat is made out of taffeta silk.
I used organza for her hairpiece and voile for her sleeves and back part.
Stitched cute, organza ruffles at the bottom of her skirt and also stitched little beads (the ones you can buy per meter) at the opening at her back and at the front of the top around the bust.

Thoughts on this costume: The costume moved as a goddess’ dress around me thanks to the lightweighted fabrics I used. It was hard to walk on the stairs since the dress is pretty tight and not made out of stretch fabric.
I had a lovely time in this costume and it’s pretty comfortable as well.

Worn at: Animecon 2007, Games in Concert 2007, Abunai2008

The reason for this costume: Christie kicks ass. I did some cute characters and it was time to pick out an assassin.
I thought it would be hard to play an assassin but it was pretty easy. Anyway I really love her outfit and her personality in the game so that is the main reason why I chose her.

How I made it: Bought the trousers and made them lower at the waist. I drew my own pattern for the jacket and hand painted the fire on it. Sewed some skai-leather straps together for my belts and took studs from a belt and used them in my collar.

I had to use low sporty shoes because I did a fighting act. It was pretty rough so I couldn’t use high heels on this one. But I did use shoes with a flame on it

Also a side note: I made a bikini top with an invisible bra strap between it and taped it at me breast. I also used an invisible bra strap for my jacket and taped it at my skin. So yes I’m wearing a ‘ bra’ and yes the jacket is taped and will stay at my skin.It’s one of the few costumes where I do use skin tape.

Thoughts on this costume: It was very cool to crawl in Christie’s skin and be her. It’s also a very comfortable costume.

Worn at: Animecon 2007 and Chibicon 2007

The reason for this costume: Cutey Honey is such a nice character and such a sweet personality. Everybody should love this sweet girl. Also it looked like a real job to make this outfit. My hands where itching for it so I made this Cutey Honey live action version.

How I made it: It took me 2 days to find out how I could make this suit without the use of a body stocking and too much tape.
I began with the halter top and used a pattern of a ballet bodystocking.
After that I made a separate back part with the hearts and designs, stitched a stretching band at the top of it, tied it in the front and tugged it away underneath the front part of the collar.
Now I would be able to get out of the costume easily.
I stitched hearts on an arm warmer and stitched it at the front of the top.
Used invisible bra-strips for the trousers / legging and stitched a press-button on it so I could close and open it.
My classmate stitched the hearts on my butt. I had to wear this costume because it’s stretching and else the hearts wouldn’t be on the right place with the right amount of stretch.
I used a little piece of skin colored fabric for the part of her leg to prevent it from falling open.

I also used a little bit of skin tape to tape the hearts of me sleeve, at my back

Thoughts on this costume: A comfortable and fun-posing costume.

It’s nice to cosplay such an awesome character

Worn at: Games in Concert 2008

The reason for this costume: I made a Dante cosplay coat for my fiancée in 2006. We were asked to cosplay at Games in Concert 2008 and he wanted to cosplay Dante again. I really wanted to cosplay with him as a couple so I decided to make Lady. It would be a pretty easy cosplay but the props would be hard to make

How I made it: I used a pattern from a blouse I made before and made it much shorter and a bit tighter.
Still had some patterns for a short that I could use for Lady’s shorts.

Clothes:
I drew a pattern for the pockets and sewed those on a band. To make the band fit my hips; I stitched a few darts in it.
It was the first time that I made gloves and I hand stitched them together and used fabric glue so the seams won’t open up.

Guns:
I made the guns out of triplex wood and my mom helped me by saw the pieces of wood.
Used the design of Dante’s guns; Ebony and Ivory. Too bad the painting didn’t come out as I wanted. But I’m very happy that I can wear them just like Lady can. One on the back and one in front.

Kalina Ann: my fiancée made Kalina Ann for me. He did had some problems with the front and the back so I helped him out with these two parts.
I made the back piece out of wood and the front out of craft foam, cardboard and duct-tape.
He made the complete construction out of PVC pipes and used a broomstick for the handle at the front.

Thoughts on this costume: This costume was really COOL to wear.
I got allot of attention with my Kalina Ann and they sure recognized me.
I also received allot of compliments on my costume.
Too bad I didn’t have the contacts or a black wig.
But for sure I love this cosplay for its looks.

Worn at: Abunai 2007, Abunai 2008

The reason for this costume:

This costume is so sexy. The first time I saw this one I wanted to make it. I was 15 years old (if I remember correctly) so a little too young. I finally got the chance to make it. It also looked like a pretty easy costume.

How I made it: I used a lycra fabric cause I couldn’t find any stretching leather. Used a triangle bikini pattern as a basic and made a whole dress out of it.  I stood in front of a mirror to see where I had to cut the openings. Because I dislike using tape I made the dress tight enough so I wouldn’t have to use any.

Thoughts on this costume: It’s a very sexy yet elegant dress which shouldn’t be worn with a lot of wind haha.
